The new web portal open-access.network was launched on 28 September 2021. The website is a cooperative project led by the Communication, Information and Media Centre (KIM) at the University of Konstanz and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The web portal aims at providing a reliable and permanent resource for information on all aspects of Open Access (OA) publishing as well as an educational and networking platform on this topic.
A new OA platform has just been launched under the project-lead of the University of Konstanz: open-access.network. The website is a centralized information and networking hub to promote a culture of open academic publishing and – by that – free and open access to knowledge for everyone, everywhere. It provides a wide range of services for OA newcomers and professionals alike.
“The information offered ranges from basic information about Open Access to funding, legal issues and current developments. Additionally, the portal offers numerous training opportunities and space for networking”, says project coordinator Dr Anja Oberländer from KIM.
The open-access.network team also hosted this year’s Open Access Days, the largest conference on OA in the German-speaking regions (Austria, Germany, Switzerland), which took place as an online conference from 27-29 September. For the current International Open Access Week, the portal provides an overview of activities offered by different German institutions, including a series of Coffee Lectures organized by the University of Konstanz.
open-access.network is a highly collaborative project involving KIM (at the University of Konstanz), the Helmholtz Open Science Office in Potsdam, the Göttingen State and University Library (SUB), the Open Access Büro Berlin (OABB), the TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology in Hanover and the Bielefeld University Library. It receives funding of approximately 2.4 million euros from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
