The University of Bremen, a mid-sized University with approximately 270 professorships and 20,000 students, offers a broad range of disciplines and competes internationally in top-level research. Funded by the University’s Central Research Development Fund (CRDF), the University of Bremen invites postdoctoral researchers to apply for Eight Postdoctoral Positions (Open Topic) to pursue an independent research project for three years.
The self-designed projects can be established in any research area (natural sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences). In order to ensure a fruitful academic exchange, the integration of the project in an academic unit at the University of Bremen is a prerequisite for an application.
The postdoctoral positions are open to:
- early-career postdocs who have just completed their PhDs. The doctoral certificate must be on hand at latest 10 months after the application deadline and must not date back to more than two years before deadline (date of doctoral certificate).
The postdocs receive the opportunity of being responsible for and leading their own project. One explicit aim is the independent raising of third-party funds.
- advanced postdocs with aim professorship. The PhD must not date back to less than two years before application deadline and not more than four years (date of doctoral certificate). The aim is to pave the way for professorships.
Successful applicants will be employed by the University (pay grade E 13 TV-L or up to E 14 TV-L for advanced researchers) and receive a yearly budget of 6,000 € for research activities. The University offers an academic environment which ensures that the postdoctoral researchers enjoy extensive support. The University of Bremen is an equal opportunity employer. Thus, at least 50 percent of the positions will be offered to women.
Applicants are expected to have am outstanding doctoral degree, a significant publication record, and an excellent individual research project (advanced postdoctoral researchers) or project idea (early-stage postdoctoral researchers). Applications must be accompanied by a declaration of the Bremen University professor who will host the project.
