The YERUN Activity Report 2024-2025 is special in many ways. For the first time, it presents a summary of the network’s activities over a two-year period, a time that has been particularly rich in milestones for YERUN and its member universities.
The report brings together YERUN’s achievements across 2024 and 2025, marking both the conclusion of the YERUN Strategy 2021–2025 and the exciting beginning of a new strategic cycle. As we step into the future, we do so with renewed energy, refreshed priorities, and a clear vision for the work ahead.
The years 2024 and 2025 have been remarkable for YERUN. The YERUN Brussels Office has grown to a team of six, an extraordinary milestone when we remember that, at the network’s launch in 2015, there was no Office at all, and that from 2016 to 2019, the office operated only with its Secretary General. But most importantly, our network has expanded, welcoming new members who strengthen our collective voice and enrich our shared mission.
2025 has been particularly meaningful as YERUN celebrated its 10th Anniversary. This milestone offered a unique opportunity to highlight the impressive work carried out by the network and its members over a decade of collaboration and impact. The reflections on YERUN’s journey accompanied us throughout the entire year, enriched by two memorable days in Brussels in June: one dedicated to celebration and reflection among members, and another spent celebrating together with YERUN’s friends and partners from across the research, innovation and education community.
2025 also marked the year in which we addressed a topic we are often asked about: what does it mean to be a young research university? We explored this question through a collective reflection with our members that led to a publication sharing their perspectives and stories.
Over these two years, YERUN has continued to strengthen its voice in EU policy discussions, foster collaboration among its members, and invest in the development of initiatives that promote talent, openness, and societal impact.
