Proud of our thriving partnerships

By Professor Maria Fasli, Vice-Chancellor of University of Essex

Universities across the UK have had to deal with significant financial challenges in 2024, and 2025 looks set to be another tough time for the sector.

At Essex, by working together as a community, we have the talent, resilience and determination to steer our way through this difficult time.

We also have much to celebrate, such as our 60th anniversary where we can reflect on six decades of incredible achievements, including our continued dedication to delivering a transformational student experience.

One of our unique strengths at Essex is our interdisciplinary approach to fostering collaboration across diverse fields to tackle complex global challenges and we are pleased to have secured impressive levels of external research grant income.

Our thriving partnerships with universities across Europe are something we are particularly proud of, and we look forward to expanding our amazing network of partners in Europe in 2025.

YERUN continues to be a key focus for us. As a founding member, we are dedicated to supporting all that YERUN has to offer.

Part of the vision for our University when it was first established was to be truly international. This is something that has remained constant and is visible in all that we do today. We are proud to be able to say that at Essex you really do experience “the world in one place”.

I wish all our YERUN partners the very best for 2025.
