Fostering Lifelong Learning Through AI at DigiEduHack 2024

Driving Innovation in AI and Education

DigiEduHack 2024, an European Commission initiative part of the Digital Education Action Plan, brought together bright minds from YERUN universities for an intensive 24-hour journey of innovation and collaboration. Tasked with the challenge of upskilling Search & Selection professionals in the use of Generative AI tools, participants developed five groundbreaking solutions which they presented at the Award Ceremony on 16 November.

These frameworks were designed to combine technical AI skills with behavioural competencies for ethical and effective application, offering adaptable approaches to suit diverse AI knowledge levels. The aim? To foster lifelong learning and empower professionals in an evolving digital landscape.

YERUN congratulates all participants for their creativity, teamwork, and dedication! A special mention goes to the winning team for their outstanding ideas, and heartfelt thanks to our esteemed jury members—Francesco Saltari, Kevin Carrara, Gabriela Sachetti, and Emilio Sassone Corsi—whose insights enriched the hackathon.

Learning Through Expert Webinars

The event featured two inspiring webinars, organised in collaboration with ECSSA (European Confederation of Search and Selection Associations):

  • The State of the Art of GenAI: Insights from Carlos Delgado Kloos (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid) and Andrea D’Onofrio (Microsoft Italy) on cutting-edge GenAI applications in knowledge-intensive activities and education.
  • GenAI in Professional Services: Testimonials from Carlotta Scanzio and Miriam Di Pietro (Hunters Group), Valerie Schena Ehrenberger (ECSSA President), and Professor Corrado Cerruti (University of Rome Tor Vergata) on AI’s transformative impact in Search & Selection across Europe.

A big thank you to Professor Corrado Cerruti for his unwavering support in organising the hackathon with the YERUN Office and mentoring participants throughout the event.

The event was a true testament to the power of collaboration, creativity, and innovation in shaping the future of AI and digital education.
