“The Challenges of Open Science for Scientific Research” conference

The Research Institute for Higher Education and Science (INAECU) celebrated the “The Challenges of Open Science for Scientific Research” conference, which was held at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, in person at Puerta de Toledo Campus and in hybrid mode via Zoom.

The conference, with the active participation of Universidad Autunoma de Madrid and uc3m, aimed at analyse the response of universities and researchers to the challenge of Open Science (OS). Public policies and regulations concerning the adoption of a global strategy of Open Science were one of the hot topics in Science and Technology Studies. Open Science can be analysed from multiple angles and perspectives as a multidimensional phenomenon. This conference proposed to share researchers’ and institutions’ perceptions of this topic and discuss the challenges, benefits, and disadvantages of Open Science.

Following this multidimensional idea of Open Science, the conference was structured around three main themes divided into three sessions:

First Session: The challenges of Open Science for researchers.

Second session: Open Science and new publishing business models.

Third Session: Open Science, by and for citizens?
