Advanced technical, economic and life science studies

For more than a decade, Ulm University has been running the School of Advanced Professional Studies (SAPS). Founded in 2011, Ulm University joined forces with Ulm University of Applied Sciences in 2018. Together, they’ve been running the new joint venture for advanced technical, economic and life sciences studies ever since.

With newly developed master degrees as well as micro credentials and further training, SAPS offers advanced professional education. Available master degrees include Innovation and Science Management, Instruction Design and Business Analytics. Prospective students need a university degree and at least one year of professional experience. All programs are subject to a fee; however, often times employers will share in the cost, or sponsoring is available.

In accordance with its professional target audience, SAPS uses a blended learning approach, with 80 percent of study contents available online. Lab and attendance days are scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays.

Aside from SAPS, Ulm University also runs the Zentrum für Allgemeine Wissenschaftliche Weiterbildung (ZAWiW) – the Centre for General Scientific Continuing Education. ZAWiW develops and conducts innovative learning opportunities for all generations, with a focus on the third age. The goal here is to strengthen lifelong learning, as well as offering qualifications for post-professional responsibilities, whether that be in community work, business or culture. ZAWiW cooperates with Ulm University institutes from all disciplines, with scientific institutions with similar goals throughout Europe, and with senior citizen’s organisations.
