YERUN Sports Days 2018

The YERUN Sport Days were organized from Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 April 2018 during the PCU Games at the University of Antwerp. The program included a workshop for professionals on Wednesday, a Yerun dinner for students and professionals on Thursday evening and the complete sports and event program from Wednesday to Friday of the PCU Games for student teams. The Sport Days are part of a YERUN initiative to facilitate that students from member institutions participate in collaborative activities.


The YERUN Sport Days program started with the 2018 workshop “YERUN collaboration in the domain of Sport”, attended by professionals of the CUS Roma Tor Vergata, University of Antwerp and PCU Committee.

At the 2018 PCU Games Opening Ceremony, former Rector of the University of Antwerp, Prof. Dr. Alain Verschoren highlighted in his speech the essence and objectives of the Young European Research Universities Network (YERUN). The primary objective of YERUN is to strengthen and develop cooperation in the area of scientific research, academic education and service to society among a cluster of highly-ranked, young universities in Europe on an equal basis and for their common benefit (www.yerun.eu).

The Yerun dinner on Thursday was attended by the Yerun members Roma Tor Vergata and the University of Antwerp, together with Panathlon International President, Pierre Zappelli, member of the Panathlon International Board, Paul Standaert, the Executive Board of the PCU Committee and representative of the Financial University of Russia, Gennady Davydov. During the YERUN Sport Days, initiatives for further cooperation and communication were discussed.
