YERUN – The Young European Research Universities Network – is recruiting a Policy Officer (Research & Innovation) to join our Brussels-based team from October 2025.
We are looking for a committed professional, proactive, eager to contribute to a dynamic team, with strong experience in the European research and innovation sector, good knowledge of the higher education sector and university associations in Brussels, and experience in working with NGOs or international organisations.
You will be part of a very efficient team in Brussels of 6 people that works daily with EU stakeholders, the EU institutions and, most importantly, with the YERUN Coordinators and various experts from the network’s institutions located across Europe. You must feel at ease working in an international and multicultural context.
About the Role – As Policy Officer, you will:
- Monitor and analyse EU policy developments in research and innovation;
- Coordinate and contribute to YERUN’s policy positions and briefings;
- Support the organisation of network meetings and policy groups;
- Liaise with EU institutions, stakeholders, and member universities;
- Contribute to EU-funded projects and support YERUN events.
What We Are Looking For – The ideal candidate will have:
- You hold a bachelor’s degree (a master’s degree is desirable);
- At least 2–3 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in EU policy, R&I, or a related field;
- Strong understanding of EU policymaking and of the European higher education sector, particularly in policy areas related to education, research, and innovation at the European level.”;
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English (C2 level); additional EU languages are a plus;
- A collaborative, flexible, and proactive attitude;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and in a small team;
- Experience with the structure and requirements of EU funding programmes, as well as proven ability to manage and implement EU-funded projects.
