Maastricht University is committed to integrating sustainability into every aspect of its organisation by 2030. The Sustainable UM2030 programme spearheads this effort through innovative research, transformative education and exemplary operational practices.
A key initiative in this endeavour is the recently launched Regional Transition Platform. This collaborative effort accelerates sustainability transitions within the region by bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, including the immediate cross-border area.
Coordinated by dedicated staff at Maastricht University and Maastricht municipality, the platform fosters collaboration among local authorities and public and private organisations. It serves as a dynamic knowledge interface, facilitating meaningful knowledge exchange and driving practical action in key areas such as energy transition, circularity and community resilience.
The Regional Transition Platform ensures that sustainability efforts are both practical and impactful, highlighting UM’s dedication to making a tangible difference through collaborative, real-world solutions.
