YERUN Leaders, Coordinators, and Brussels Office convened in Paris at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL from 19 to 21 March for the YERUN General Assembly. Over three days, participants engaged in discussions on crucial topics for YERUN and its members: Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, Knowledge Valorisation, and the implications of European elections on the internationalisation of higher education.
The event was opened by a warm welcome by Professor El Mouhoub Mouhoud, President of Université Paris Dauphine-PSL, accompanied by wonderful live piano music setting the ambiance. Prof. Mouhoud shared insights on the university’s history since its foundation and highlighted its main characteristics.
On March 20, YERUN leaders participated in two workshops. The first session delved into the increasingly important topic of AI in higher education, featuring special guests Alistair Nolan, Senior Policy Analyst at OECD, and Tristan Cazenave, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL. In the afternoon, discussions revolved around the implications of the European elections on the internationalisation of higher education.
On the same day, the EU Research Area Living guidelines on the Responsible Use of Generative AI in Research were published. We take pride in our contribution to these guidelines, which were informed also by the insights of our experts.
Simultaneously, YERUN Coordinators convened in a workshop on the preparation of YERUN’s 10th anniversary, and discussed internal communication. The group also welcomed in person Mikk Kasesalk, the Coordinator of the newest YERUN member, the University of Tallinn.
During the GA day on 21 March, YERUN leaders engaged in strategic planning, regarding strengthening research collaboration, budgetary matters, memberships and policy updates. In the afternoon, the discussion was enriched by a special guest, Mr. Peter Dröll, Director of Prosperity at DG RTD, European Commission, who exchanged on the topics of AI and Knowledge Valorisation with YERUN leaders.
The YERUN Brussels Office extends gratitude, on behalf of all YERUN members, to Université Paris Dauphine-PSL for organising a great General Assembly. Special thanks are due to President El Mouhoub Mouhoud, Vice Rector Sophie Meritet and Benjamin Giami, Director of International Affairs, and his team, for their hospitality.
We are looking forward to meeting again all YERUN colleagues in October for the next General Assembly, which will be hosted by the University of Konstanz.
