Intersectoral Mobility of early career researchers at University of Cyprus

The University of Cyprus promotes intersectoral mobility of its researchers via different schemes – both via internal projects and via their participation in the YUFE alliance.

ONISILOS – MSCA COFUND

Coordinated and co-funded by the University of Cyprus (UCY), the ONISILOS project will transform the current postdoctoral fellowships programme of UCY into an international, intersectoral and interdisciplinary funding scheme for experienced researchers (PhD holders including early career stage). The grant, through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND, will allow UCY to launch 50 postdoctoral fellowships. ONISILOS will create the conditions through which international and intersectoral mobility of researchers will be secured and offer innovative training through research and transferrable skills training to the fellows. By attracting the future generation of top researchers in Cyprus, it will also create opportunities to develop an entrepreneurial culture within the country’s research community.

YUFE4Postdoc

YUFE4Postdoc intends to set a new standard for research training within the YUFE alliance and even beyond.  It will deliver impact for cities, regions, communities and people by producing high qualitative science with societal relevance on short or longer term.  And of course, it will also have an impact on the lives of the appointed researchers. With YUFE4Postdocs, the YUFE universities and their partners in cities and regions want to train ‘future-proof’ researchers. These are open-minded knowledge workers, who can build careers inside and outside the university.

YUFE

The University of Cyprus in the context of the YUFE Project and YUFE Post-Doc scheme, offered 2 positions for early career researches for 3 years. The successful candidates started their employment with UCY in September 2021 and 2022. The program encourages integration into multicultural research environments with a mobility scheme that enhance collaboration between YUFE universities.

Inno4YUFE

The Inno4YUFE project aims to boost the entrepreneurship and innovation skills of YUFE students. One of the ways to achieve this is to create an Entrepreneurial Internship Programme, where start-ups from the 10 YUFE countries will benefit from student placements. Start-ups from Cyprus will welcome students from the YUFE Alliance institutions, while students from the University of Cyprus can have an internship abroad at a start-up in any YUFE Alliance country.
