“The corona pandemic has been an extraordinarily challenging year for all of us,” states Professor Bernd Scholz-Reiter, president of the University of Bremen. “Despite all of the difficulties we have faced, we have shown that we are capable in dealing with such situations and are able to adapt to them. The university’s core operations – namely teaching, examinations, and research – have been able to continue. I would say that we have succeeded in continuing to achieve most of what we usually do. This will surely also improve over time and with an increase in experience. I am certain that we will come out of this crisis much stronger and will be able to confidently say that we have overcome it together.
Europeanization and internationalization of the University of Bremen are matters of particular significance at the moment. We are coming face-to-face with such aspects regularly – YERUN is only one example. It is great to see that we young universities in the network are supporting each other through these difficult times and are making ourselves and our work more visible by doing so.
In the coming year, our university will celebrate its 50th birthday. It is our wish to show and communicate our spirit to the outside world during the jubilee year. It is down to the outstanding work put in by thousands of people that we have achieved such a great deal in the past 50 years.
On behalf of the University of Bremen, I would like to send all YERUN members cordial season’s greetings and wish you all a happy, prosperous, and healthy 2021,” states Professor Bernd-Scholz-Reiter.
