On 27 April, the YERUN Policy Platform (YPP) met in a hybrid way, in Brussels and online. This was the second meeting of the group since its creation in 2021.
The YPP is the “policy engine” of YERUN. The group, composed of vice-rectors, policy advisors and officers from the YERUN members universities, works very closely with the YERUN Office to analyse relevant EU policies, understand their implications on the opportunities that these might have on young research universities, and position the network on the topics at stake. The one-day meeting was very fruitful and rich of discussion on the numerous policy topics that YERUN is following: European Excellence Initiative, Science Management Initiative, CoARA, Academic Careers and the ERA Forum.
The afternoon session was enriched by the participation of Stijn Delauré, from the Directorate General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) of the European Commission. Mr. Delauré exchanged views and with the YPP and the Brussels Office on the ERA Actions 13 (Empowering Higher Education Institutions) and 17 (Science Management Initiative).
The cooperation between the YERUN Office and the YPP is fundamental for the network’s advocacy and policy work at the European level on research, innovation and education. The Brussels Office would like to thank you all colleagues for their active and precious participation and looks forward to the next in person meeting in November.
